THE AVERAGE DEPTH IS AROUND SIX FEET, AND THE MAXIMUM DEPTH IS NINE TO NINE AND A HALF FEET. THE DEPTH VARIES WITH CHANGES IN LAKE LEVELS. LAKE LEVELS ARE GENERALLY LOWER IN SUMMER AND HIGHER IN THE WINTER. GIVEN THAT THE LAKE IS SHALLOW, IT IS IMPORTANT TO OPERATE POWER BOATS IN A WAY THAT DOES NOT STIR UP THE LAKE BOTTOM.
ABOUT HALF OF THE LAKE BOTTOM AREA IS MUDDY, AND THIS CAN GET STIRRED UP BY BOATING ACTIVITY. THIS MUD AND UPROOTED VEGETATION AND ALGAE IS PUSHED INTO SHALLOW AREAS BY WIND AND WAVE ACTION, AND CAN BE PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE WHERE THERE ARE SEA WALLS. THIS MATERIAL IS MUCH EASIER TO REMOVE FROM THE SANDY LAKESHORE AREAS BY RAKING IT UP AND DISPOSING OF IT.
YES. LARGEMOUTH BASS GROW VERY QUICKLY HERE, AS THERE ARE LARGE NUMBERS OF FORAGE FISH, SUCH AS YELLOW PERCH.
